Navigating Love Across Cultures
If the cultural differences that once felt exciting now feel like your biggest source of tension, you’re not alone.
Cultural dynamics can shape how we communicate, handle emotions, make decisions, and show love. When these patterns collide, it’s easy to feel misunderstood, unseen, or exhausted.
Maybe you grew up in a family where keeping the peace meant avoiding conflict—while your partner believes in addressing things immediately.
Or perhaps you learned that emotions should be controlled, while your partner expresses theirs openly.
Or maybe family obligations look completely different for each of you, and neither of you feels fully understood.
Beliefs, values, and expectations that once felt obvious are now being brought into the relationship in ways you didn’t expect.
This is where our work begins.
Turning Differences Into Connection
In cross-cultural relationships, differences will naturally show up.
They don’t have to be a threat.
In our sessions, both of your experiences and identities are acknowledged and respected. We’ll slow things down so you can understand what’s happening underneath the conflict—not just the surface issue.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Communicate across cultural lenses
-
Navigate emotional expression differences
-
Bridge expectations around family, roles, and closeness
-
Replace defensiveness with curiosity and empathy
Your backgrounds are not problems to solve.
They are part of the story of your relationship.
We’ll work toward clarity, connection, and trust—together.
Cultural awareness isn’t just theory for me, it’s personal.
My understanding of cultural dynamics isn’t just theoretical—it comes from lived experience.
A trip to Thailand as a teenager sparked a lifelong love of culture, travel, and cross-cultural connection. That journey eventually led me into a cross-cultural marriage, and today, I’m living away from my home country of Australia. And yes—moving to the United States came with cultural adjustments no one warned me about.
I understand what it’s like to love someone whose worldview was shaped in a different context.
I understand how beautiful—and challenging—that can be.
This is why I do this work.
